Computer Aided Engineering Support Services
U.S. Army Soldier and Biological Chemical Command (SBCCOM)
Background
Under this contract, SciTech engineers are providing direct support to the US Army ERDEC in the areas of computer aided engineering, packaging engineering and research and development. In a current, initial task, SciTech is providing support to a developmental items designed for detecting chemical warfare agents on the battlefield. The objective is to redesign the packaging of the item for incorporation into higher technology field options currently under development to support the soldier on the battlefield. Ongoing design efforts also include such developmental items as the Biological Integrated Detection System (BIDS), Nuclear, Biological and Chemical (NBC) Reconnaissance System, Modular Decontamination System (MDS), Chemical Protective Mask and various chemical agent collective protective systems. Other areas of support in this task order contract are:
- military packaging and container specification design including protection against environmental condition, item integrity during transport and under short and long term storage conditions;
- marking design for unit containers and shipping configurations - package testing including all environmental conditions, i.e. extreme hot/cold, humidity
- preparation of documentation for all designs including design drawings and parts specifications, including requirements for technical data packages (TDPs) and Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs)
- engineering design modeling including geometric analysis, finite element analysis and rapid prototyping support
- computer aided design, drafting and technical drawings for all developmental items and modifications/ improvements for those items, including electrical engineering support
- assessment of operational performance and needs of developmental systems and design of material to meet the needs including changes to original designs
- participation in test and evaluation activities including preparation of test plans, set up of testing apparatus and test documentation
- preparation of feasibility studies, tolerance analysis, material/property tests and market surveys to evaluate specific user requirements |
